Christopher's Haven, a home away from home for families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment

The Mission
Christopher’s Haven was founded to create and operate a home away from home for children being treated for cancer at the Mass General Hospital for Children and their families.

The Vision

Built on the model of the Ronald McDonald houses, Christopher’s Haven will provide a safe, hospitable and supportive environment for the young patients as well as their parents and siblings. Warm comfortable sitting rooms, game areas and reading spaces will provide a much-needed respite from the rigors and sterility of the hospital environment. Families will be able to stay for a nominal fee -- which will be waived for those unable to afford it.

Team Christopher
Christopher’s Haven wants to support you and your efforts to run for our cause. We have created an opportunity for those that will be competing in the Malibu Marathon and want to run for us. We call it “Destination Running.” Here is how is works:
1. Raise money for your run in the name of Christopher's Haven.
2. We will give you “Travel Dollars” as your fundraising grows.
For every $1,000 you raise, you will earn “100 Travel Dollars.”
These dollars can be used for your trip to Malibu for the marathon or supathalon.
You can also use them for future travel if you already have “Destination Malibu Marathon” taken care of.
We work with Colpitts World Travel to help with your travel plans.
Just sign up through the Malibu Marathon donation page, as your money comes in we will prepare the “Travel Dollars” for you.

AmeriCares - Sandy Relief Program


The Mission
As millions struggle in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, AmeriCares has responded with deliveries of relief supplies, bottled water, and deployment of a mobile medical unit to help families in need. More aid shipments are underway.

Throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, millions remain without power as cold weather sets in. At the same time, extensive damage to roads and property, severe flooding, fuel shortages and mass transit shutdowns are posing great challenges to survivors. Preliminary estimates set storm-related damages at up to $50 billion.

Staten Island, NY was particularly hard-hit by widespread power outages that paralyzed health services in many communities. On November 1, AmeriCares deployed a fully-stocked mobile medical clinic to the borough, helping the Beacon Christian Community Health Center (BCCH) treat patients despite power outages.

Why Team for Life? Why Fundraise?
As a Team for Life member you will have the unique opportunity to participate in the Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco half Marathon while raising funds for Lazarex Cancer Foundation, helping end stage cancer patients get a second chance at life through FDA-approved clinical trial options. Lazarex Cancer Foundation reimburses patients directly for expenses incurred with participating in a clinical trial, as well as pays for a close companion to go along for moral support. With this in mind, sometimes meeting your fundraising goal can be even more rewarding than crossing the finish line! Learn more at: and

What Do I Get?
All Team for Life members who meet the fundraising goal of $650 by Monday, October 28, 2013 for the Malibu Marathon will receive the following:
  • Race registration fee paid for (Yep! We will pay your race registration fee!!)
  • Your very own fundraising site and personal URL to help you spread the word about your goals and share your fundraising efforts.
  • Official Race Shirt
  • Official Finisher’s Medal
  • Lazarex technical race day T-shirt
  • Post-race – Team photos, snacks, refreshments, etc.
  • Invite to any additional race day festivities.

Membership Fee?
$50 for Team for Life membership fee (Nonrefundable, but will be credited to your fundraising webpage as your 1st donation!!)

What Do I Give?
Each Team for Life member participating in the Malibu Marathon is responsible for raising a minimum of $650 (including your TFL membership fee/1st donation) by Monday, October 28, 2013 at 5pm PST.
We will provide you with Technically, if 24 people donate $25, you would be all set to run!!
If the $650 fundraising minimum is not met by Friday, October 28, 2013 at 5pm PST, your credit card on file will be charged the difference (to total $650). These charges are 100% refundable if you continue to fundraise and reach the $650 minimum by Friday, December 6, 2013 at 5pm PST. Once you fulfill your fundraising requirement, Lazarex will issue a refund check for the amount charged to your credit card to meet the fundraising requirement.

Girls On The Run Of Los Angeles

Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County
Girls on the Run uses the power of running to prepare girls in 3rd – 8th grades for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. With a detailed curriculum of games, activities, discussions, and running around, girls experience the joy of simply being themselves! The lessons inspire them to celebrate their bodies, honor their voices, recognize their gifts, and activate their power. At the end of each season, they complete a non-competitive 5k (3.1 mile) walk/run.

Trained volunteer coaches lead twice-weekly lessons over a 12 week season. The program is grounded in our local communities, held at schools and in parks, and could never happen without the passionate commitment of our fabulous volunteer coaches.

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.
Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.
